尊敬的英國約克公爵安德魯王子殿下，

尊敬的哈德斯菲爾德大學(xué)校長克萊恩先生，

老師們、同學(xué)們、朋友們：

很榮幸接受哈德斯菲爾德大學(xué)授予的榮譽博士學(xué)位。哈德斯菲爾德大學(xué)是全英教育質(zhì)量最佳大學(xué)之一。有幸成為你們的校友，對于我本人、中國駐英國大使館乃至中英教育合作而言，都是一份珍貴的肯定和期許。我謹(jǐn)向校監(jiān)安德魯王子殿下和克萊恩校長表示衷心感謝!考生如果怕自己錯過考試報名時間和考試時間的話，可以 免費預(yù)約短信提醒，屆時會以短信的方式提醒大家報名和考試時間。

It is with great honour that I receive the Honorary Doctorate from the University of Huddersfield. The University of Huddersfield is one of UK’s best universities in quality of teaching. Becoming your alumnus is not only a special recognition and expectation for myself. It is also a recognition and expectation for the Chinese Embassy in the UK and for China-UK education cooperation. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to HRH The Duke of York and to Vice-Chancellor Cryan!

哈德斯菲爾德對許多中國人來說不是一個很熟悉的名字，但我要告訴他們，這是第一所在中國捐助希望小學(xué)的外國大學(xué)，這是一所已與中國100多所大學(xué)建立了校際合作關(guān)系的大學(xué)，這是一所與中國幾十家教育、文化、媒體機構(gòu)開展多種形式的合作的大學(xué)。可以說，哈德斯菲爾德大學(xué)與中國已經(jīng)結(jié)下不解之緣。我期待并相信，哈德斯菲爾德大學(xué)在未來中英教育交流合作中將發(fā)揮重要作用。

To many Chinese people, the University of Huddersfield may not be a familiar name. But I will tell my fellow Chinese that: This is the first foreign university that has donated to a Hope Primary School in China. It has established partnership with more than 100 Chinese universities. And it has engaged in various forms of cooperation with dozens of Chinese educational, cultural and media institutions. It is fair to say that the University of Huddersfield has a close bond with China. I hope and believe that the University of Huddersfield will continue to play an important role in China-UK education exchanges and cooperation in the future.

談到中英教育合作的未來，我想用哈德斯菲爾德大學(xué)的字首“H”來表達我的三點期望：

Talking about the future, I would like to use the letter “H” for Huddersfield to share with you my three hopes for China-UK education cooperation.

一是勤奮耕耘(Hardwork)。優(yōu)秀的教育，既要培養(yǎng)高尚的品德，又要培育真才實學(xué)。希望我們用好“英國未來計劃”、“漢語培優(yōu)項目”、“中英數(shù)學(xué)教師交流項目”等機制，尤其要用好今天簽約創(chuàng)建的哈德斯菲爾德科技創(chuàng)新孔子學(xué)院等平臺，培養(yǎng)真才實學(xué)、踏實肯干的人才。

The first H is hard work. High-quality education should aim to foster talents that are both virtuous and competent. And this requires hard work. There are many mechanisms that can be leveraged in achieving this goal. These include “Generation UK”, “Mandarin Excellence Programme” and the “China-UK Mathematic Teacher Exchange Programme”. In a latest addition to these platforms, we signed a document earlier today to launch the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology Innovation at the University of Huddersfield. These mechanisms will help us foster competent and hard-working talents.

二是開闊視野(Horizon)。大學(xué)可以有圍墻，但觀念、思維、人才、知識不設(shè)墻。希望我們以更寬的胸襟、更廣的視野，跨越文化差異的鴻溝，打破意識形態(tài)的藩籬，以交流代替歧視，以兼容代替排斥，以對話代替對抗，以共處代替沖突。正如剛剛宣布的那樣，今年中國政府將給予哈德斯菲爾德大學(xué)20個短期赴華留學(xué)獎學(xué)金名額，希望獲得這份資助的同學(xué)們在實踐中開闊視野，做增進中英理解互信的橋梁。

The second H is horizon. Universities may have walls, but they are not barricaded against ideas, thoughts, talents or knowledge. I think this is an age that calls for broader horizon and broader minds. This is a time to bridge the gap between cultures and break the fence between ideologies. This is an era for exchanges not discrimination, an era for inclusion not exclusion, an era for dialogue not confrontation, and an era for coexistence not conflict. As was just announced, the Chinese Government would offer scholarships to 20 students from the University of Huddersfield for short-term study in China. It is my hope that the recipients could take advantage of this experience to broaden their horizon and become a bridge of better understanding and mutual trust between our two countries.

三是砥礪前行(Headway)。當(dāng)今世界正處于百年未有之大變局。在國際變局中，世界各國應(yīng)旗幟鮮明地反對保護主義和單邊主義，攜手努力、共同擔(dān)當(dāng)，同舟共濟、共渡難關(guān)，共同構(gòu)建人類命運共同體。

The third H is headway. The world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century. To make headway amid such changes, all countries of the world should stand up against protectionism and unilateralism. As long as we join hands, shoulder our due responsibilities and have each other’ s back in difficulties, we will be able to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

哈德斯菲爾德大學(xué)的校訓(xùn)是“激勵全球?qū)I(yè)人士”(Inspiring Global Professionals)，相信我期望的這三個“H”也能激勵你們?yōu)橹杏⒂押煤献魈泶u加瓦，為兩國人文交流與合作做出新的更大貢獻!

The motto of the University of Huddersfield is “Inspiring Global Professionals”. I hope what I have said about three “H’s” would inspire you to make new and greater contribution to China-UK cooperation in education and people-to-people exchanges!
