I am very pleased to meet my friends from theCanadian business community on the other side ofthe Pacific. My current feeling can be bestexpressed by an ancient Chinese remark:"Howdelightful I am to have friends coming from afar!"
中國政府十分重視同加拿大雙邊經貿關系的發(fā)展，并且非常贊賞加中貿易理事會為加強我們這兩個偉大國家商業(yè)界的聯(lián)系而作出的努力和起到的橋梁作用。我感謝理事會所有成員為促進加中貿易作出的努力。加拿大是一個工業(yè)發(fā)達、資源豐富的國家，中國則是一個勞動力充足、市場巨大的國家。我們希望看到加拿大的企業(yè)能夠充分利用自己在技術和財力上的優(yōu)勢，贏得中國市場。
The Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of bilateral economicand trade relations and appreciates the efforts made by Canadian-Chinese Trade Council servingas a bridge linking the business communities of our two great nations. I commend all themembers of the Council for their efforts in promoting trade with China. Canada is a country withwell-developed industries and abundant resources, while China has a plentiful supply of laborforce and a potential huge market. We hope to see Canadian enterprises make full use of theirtechnical and financial advantages and compete well in the Chinese market.
