——本著優勢互補、互利互惠的原則，把雙方經貿、科技合作擺到重要地位，加強在資源、技術、市場、金融、信息、人力資源開發以及投資等領域的合作，以利于相互促進，共同發展。

We should give priority to our economic relations and trade, scientific and technologicalcooperation between our two sides in accordance with the principle of drawing on eachother's comparative advantages and mutual benefit and reinforce the cooperation in theareas of resources, technology marketing, banking, information, human resources developmentand investment to promote common progress.

——在一些重大的地區和國際問題上，在聯合國、亞太經合組織、亞歐會議以及東盟地區論壇中，加強雙方的相互對話，相互協調，相互支持，共同維護發展中國家的正當權益，促進發展中國家公正平等、不受歧視地參與國際經濟決策和運行。

We should intensify two-way dialogue, coordination and mutual support between our twosides on major regional and international issues and in the United Nations, APEC(Asia-PacificEconomic Cooperation), AES(Asia-Europe Summit) and ARF(ASEAN Regional Forum) with a viewto jointly safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the developing countries andpromoting their fair and equal participation in the international economic decision-making andoperation without discrimination.

中國始終不渝地奉行獨立自主的和平外交政策，中國隊外政策的最高宗旨是和平。中國是世界上最大的發展中國家，社會生產力水平總的還比較低，還要經過幾十年的艱苦奮斗才能實現現代化，需要有長期的和平國際環境，尤其是睦鄰友好環境。今后中國發達起來了，仍將繼續堅持和平共處5項原則，與世界各國相互尊重，平等相待，友好相處，決不稱霸。中國永遠是維護世界和地區和平與穩定的堅定力量。

China pursues unswervingly an independent foreign policy of peace, taking peace as theultimate goal. As the largest developing country in the world with a relatively low level ofproductive forces on the whole, China needs a long term peaceful international environmentand a good neighborly environment in particular to realize its modernization programthrough decades of arduous struggles.

Even when China is developed, it will continue to adhere to the Five Principles of PeacefulCoexistence, live with other countries in amity in the spirit of mutual respect and treatingothers as equals, and never seek hegemony. China will always be a staunch force inmaintaining regional and global peace and stability.
