形容詞與副詞的語法功能及復習要點

　　相關背景知識介紹：

　　Speaker A---I think you are the right person for the job. I’m sure you’ll do very well in it. So I recommended you to the director.

　　Speaker B---It’s very kind of you. I don’t know how I can thank you enough.

　　形容詞：right, sure, kind

　　副詞： very, well, so, how, enough

　　內容：Speaker A認為Speaker B是工作的合適人選， Speaker B向 Speaker A表達了他的感激之情。

　　英語小常識： 當外國人表示對你的欣賞， 包括對你的能力， 服飾，行為的欣賞時， 你千萬別謙虛的說“so-so(一般)”， 因為外國人他們自己在這樣的場合下是不會這樣回答的，他們習慣因此而向對方表示謝意， 所以在這樣的場合下應該說：It’s very kind of you to say so.或者 Thank you.

　　形容詞性后綴：

　　-able/-ible/-ble “能夠”e.g. acceptable (accept + able)可接受的， responsible (respons(e)+ ible)應負責任的，可靠的

　　-al “的” e.g. educational(education + al)教育的

　　-ful “充滿。。的”e.g. beautiful (beauty ? beauti + ful)美麗的, useful (use + ful)有用的

　　-ic/-ical “的”e.g. economic (econom(y )+ ic)經濟上的, economical (econom(y )+ ical)經濟的

　　-less “無/不/沒有。。的” e.g. careless(care + less)粗心的, useless (use + less)無用的

　　-ive “性，傾向。。的”e.g. attractive (attract + ive)吸引人的, effective (effect + ive)有效的

　　-ous “充滿。。的”e.g. dangerous (danger + ous)危險的 , famous (fam(e) + ous)出名的

　　-ly “。。的”e.g. friendly (friend + ly)友好的

　　-ish “稍微，屬于”e.g. childish (child + ish) 孩子氣的, Swedish (Swed(en) + ish)瑞典的

　　-ern “方向”e.g. eastern(east + ern)東方的, western (west + ern)西方的

　　-ant/-ent “的”e.g. excellent (excel(ence) + ent)優秀的，卓越的，杰出的
