　　Directions: Complete the sentences by translating into English the Chinese given in brackets. Please write your translation on Answer Sheet 2.

　　【點評】well worth，“值”，后跟動名詞或名詞;discount折扣。

　　83. Facing the fierce competition from other companies (面對來自其他公司的激烈競爭), the automobile manufacturer is considering launching a promotion campaign.

　　【點評】橫線處要填的是一個非謂語從句，根據句意可知前后主語都是the automobile manufacturer，因此用現在分詞形式。

　　84. As far as hobbies are concerned, Jane and her sister nearly have nothing in common / hardly have anything in common (幾乎沒有什么共同之處).

　　【點評】have something in common有共同點，注意表示否定時副詞的使用。

　　85. Only after many failures have I realized that I cannot succeed with luck merely (我才認識到僅憑運氣是不能成功的).

　　【點評】本題考查only位于句首的倒裝。這里強調的是過去的事情對現在造成的影響“不能成功”，因此應用現在完成時態。

　　86. But for the survival instinct which nearly all creatures have, more species would have been extinct from the earth (更多的物種就可能已經在地球上滅絕了).

　　【點評】but for，“要不是，如果沒有”，這里考查虛擬語氣，后面應該用would + have done的形式，強調這種非真實的虛擬對將來可能發生的情況的影響。
