在現(xiàn)代英語詞匯里，轉(zhuǎn)化詞很多。其中的名詞轉(zhuǎn)化為動(dòng)詞的趨勢(shì)更為顯著。原因是轉(zhuǎn)化動(dòng)詞很有生氣，極富吸引力。必須注意的是，轉(zhuǎn)化動(dòng)詞與原動(dòng)詞的含義，有所不同。例如：
①a. Do you know how to serve the guests?(侍候)
b. Do you know how to service this type of machine?(維修)
②a. Who empowered him to announce the news?(授權(quán))
b. How to power this dissused machine?(為……提供動(dòng)力)
③a. NUS is situated on a ridge.(位于)
b. Where are they going to site the new factory? (定…… 的地點(diǎn))
④a. Before he departed, he packed the clothes and other belongings into his trunk.(裝進(jìn);包好)
b. You should know how to package the goods to attract more customers.(包裝)
轉(zhuǎn)化動(dòng)詞越來越多，報(bào)章雜志里，比比皆是。讀書閱報(bào)時(shí)，要多多留意，盡量吸收。
下面是些常用動(dòng)詞，全都由名詞轉(zhuǎn)化而來：
There is no guarantee against crimes unless every flat and house can be properly policed.(警備)
The criminal elements would factor into their chances of getting away quickly.(把……因素考慮在內(nèi))
The shelling targeted the rival's headquarters.(把……作為目標(biāo))
Later, Tom journeyed to Happy Valley where he placed a few bets on some horses.(旅行)
It was the big powers which brokered the Paris Peace Talks.(安排……的細(xì)節(jié))
Jason has authored more than a dozen of books on English language learning.(著述)
Can parents pressure their children into learning something they are not interested in ?(迫使、強(qiáng) 迫……做)
Gary's coat is patterned on a French model.(仿照)
The couple have husbanded their resources successfully.(節(jié)儉地使用)
The Browns papered their bedroom instead of painting it. (用紙糊上)
